"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:35 NKJV
We all have heard the saying that the family that prays together stays together. It is our belief that the same can be said of a church family. Another application of this principle is when a church family enjoys spending time and having fun together. It is the goal of the Social Committee to help facilitate that family atmosphere and to give our church family opportunities to grow in our love for, and enjoyment of, each other.
Like every family, the members of the Portland SDA Church love to have fun together so we look forward to having church parties throughout the year. Some of our favorites have included a western cowboy party, a Hawaiin party, the after-Vespers table games, and, of course, our annual Christmas parties.
The beautifully decorated fellowship room, the aroma of delicious food waiting to eaten, accompanied by the wonderful fellowship of a loving church family makes potluck Sabbath a very special occasion for each one of our church family, especially those who have had birthdays during that month. They each feel surrounded by the love of their church family as they receive special acknowledgement and a lovely birthday gift from their church family. Potluck Sabbath is usually scheduled for the 4th Sabbath of every month immediately following the church service.
You won’t want to miss the fun so plan now to come and join us!
